Musicafonds

As an Impulse Centre for Music, Musica has always been concerned with a dynamic musical landscape which offers everyone opportunities to participate and to develop.  Through the Musicafonds, the organisation aims to give an extra helping hand to artistic projects with exceptional value for society and the arts.

Impulses for participation and development

In our broad range of educational activities, we are confronted with an ever-increasing demand to develop high-quality facilities for people who lack opportunities, people with a mental or physical disability, older people, people in prison, refugees etc.

Due to a lack of financial capacity and because of the extra guidance that is needed for this kind of projects, it is often difficult to realise them as part of our regular activities.

The Musicafonds aims to lower the thresholds for high-quality musical participation and development for people who lack opportunities, and is open to project proposals from individual artists or partner organisations. Innovative projects for talent development and research into music education can also apply for support.

How is the Musicafonds managed?

The artistic team of Musica assess the applications and allocate funding. The Musicafonds keeps people informed of its supporting activities in a six-monthly newsletter. Once a year, it publishes a summary of all the activities undertaken with the donations it receives.

All applications are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria

  • attention to participation and people who lack opportunities
  • artistic concept and innovations in music education
  • opportunities for partnership with Musica, in the form of a coproduction, coaching and/or communication

Submitting a project

Anyone with a strong project who wants to apply for support can submit an application to the Musicafonds via Musica. Support can cover a maximum of half of the total project costs, to the extent of course that the necessary funding is available.

Applications must consist of at least:

  • a concise description of the intention and aims
  • a budget
  • a timing schedule
  • contact details

Projects that receive more than 1000 euros in support will be asked to submit a report within three months of completing the project.

For more information and to submit an application, please contact Ellen De Bruyne at Musica by e-mail at ellen@musica.be or telephone on +32 (0)11 610 510.

There is one submission period per year: before 1 May to receive support from 1 August of the same year
