We are still recovering from our OORtreders Festival last weekend, that turned Het Klankenbos and its surroundings on its head. A big crowd came to Pelt to enjoy the performances, the installations and of course the beautiful environment of our sound art park. This was in part thanks to the extensive coverage of the event in both national and international media. Here we present you with an overview.
Note: This article will receive further updates with new links and articles.
In the run-up to the festival, it was already announced and covered in various media outlets:
Gonzo (Circus)
Het Belang van Limburg
Kerknet
PLT magazine
We were very happy with TV Limburg’s visit. They made a nice report with footage of the expo in CC Palethe, the build-up in Het Klankenbos, and Pak Yan Lau’s installation in the ‘Zwarte Doos’ theatre at Dommelhof:
‘Pelts klank- en kunstenfestival OorTreders rolt programma uit’ (20-10-22)
You can read a review of OORtreders in the February issue of The Wire: thewire.co.uk
Our media partner We Are Various radio made live radio all weekend from the foyer at the heart of the festival, with interviews and concert streams. In advance, some audio mixes were also put online with sound clips of the performing artists. Musica staff members Dimitri (communications coordinator) and Frédéric (artistic coordinator Klankenbos) looked ahead to the festival in an interview:

Festival Sampler Fluidity mix pt. 2 (by Pak Yan Lau, Stijn Demeulenaere and Anne van de Star)
Interview
On Saturday morning, the festival day started with a very special parade: Amber Meulenijzer drove along the Dommel river in her converted Saab, accompanied by a four-piece brass band. Together, they performed a composed soundscape. Local news Radio 2 Omroep Limburg was there:
‘Opvallende geluidskunst van oude Saab en 4 koperblazers op festival OORtreders in Pelt’ (22-10-22)
And again, Het Belang van Limburg dropped by for a visit:
‘Een heel weekend creatieve geluiden uit het Klankenbos’ (21-10-22)
On Sunday, local newspaper De Zondagskrant made a final push:
‘OORtreders presenteert klank en geluid’ (23-10-22)
One of the artists on the festival programme was Kosovan-born composer Donika Rudi with her striking audiovisual spectacle ‘Lament of the Earth’. Consequently, our Belgian OORtreders Festival made an appearance in the local Kosovan press:
Koha Ditore (25-10-22)
KultPlus (23-10-22)
Finally, we gladly refer to the social media of the many artists who reported on the festival ‘live from the floor’ before, during and after the festival:
Méryll Ampe | Marco Barotti | Marie-Pierre Bonniol | Yoana Buzova | Luke Calzonetti (EC Band) | Ine Claes / kamikamka | Caroline Coolen | Deep Space Series | Stijn Demeulenaere | Elsa M’bala | Amber Meulenijzer | Mint Park | Donika Rudi | Anne van de Star | David Weber-Krebs | Stijn Wybouw (EC Band) | Mia Zabelka
We would like to thank everyone for the attention and enthusiasm for OORtreders 2022. Do you have any links or coverage of your own to add? Feel free to send it to us.
