Babelut Session: RITMO!

Music gets everyone moving. Stomping feet, clapping hands, tapping fingers, blinking eyes. Everything moves.

The life of young children consists of spontaneous play in which they gain plenty of experiences and learn. If you observe them, you see that their play is full of sound, movement and rhythmic impulses. As F. Delalande rightly says: "Le rythme est un jeu d'enfant!"

Their movements reflect a natural feeling for musical parameters such as tempo, rhythm, pitch, dynamics... Young children show themselves to each other and give shape to their expression through sound and movement. There is no doubt that music is in every child's body. And, vice versa, there is no child that remains unmoved when hearing music!

In RITMO!, the focus is on the link between music and movement. This workshop zooms in on the metric and rhythmic aspects of music. In playful exercises, we get to work with sound, material and movement. The aim is to stimulate and develop rhythmic figures and metrical impulses by experiencing them with the body. This is a fascinating process! You will discover that the better a child learns to control its body movements, the greater its understanding of rhythm and metrics becomes.

Standing or sitting on the sidelines is not an option. But don't worry, you can do nothing wrong!
