Since 2025, Musica has been working with the Valkenhof reception centre in Overpelt. Together with the residents of this reception centre, we are focusing on non-verbal musical communication through a series of workshops.
Music is the ultimate way to forge connections. That is precisely the aim of the sessions: the focus is on interaction, musicality, sound art and expression. This unifying project brings people together through playful and creative activities, in which individual talents are discovered and harnessed to build an inspiring whole.
2026: New Voices – Club 1 with Wannes Deneer
During New Voices – Club 1, 10 children aged between 8 and 12 will explore the stories hidden within objects. Using recordings, a reel and a magnet, they will literally give their chosen objects a voice. Under the artistic guidance of sound artist Wannes Deneer, they will work together to create a world of sound in which objects sing, talk and tell stories.
