Coaching programme for young composers
SoundMine is an annual international coaching programme that focuses on the development of young composers. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, they hone their skills by exploring new styles and experimenting with improvisation and notation. The connection between acoustic instruments and electronics is explored with a view to developing their own compositions. Musica alternates between working with the Flemish Radio Choir and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, which means that every two years the focus is on creation for choir or symphony orchestra.
The course deliberately has an international focus so that participants can expand their professional network and test their creative perspective in an international setting.
Edition 2026
[Registration for SoundMine 2026 is open until 5 April 2026]
Over the course of five days, selected participants will receive personal guidance from Diederik Glorieux and guest teachers Jorrit Tamminga (electronics), Hannes Vanlancker (engraving) and Annelies Van Parys (composition). The focus is on music creation and composition of symphonic and electronic music. Together with the four expert coaches, you will work on developing your own concept. Subsequently, in May 2027, all participants get the unique opportunity of working with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra for a special showcase of their composition that was created during SoundMine.
