SoundMine 2026: Young composers take centre stage
Meet the participants

The selection for the SoundMine 2026 composition residency is complete. Discover the young talents who will be working with Diederik Glorieux and guest tutors Jorrit Tamminga (electronics), Hannes Vanlancker (engraving) and Annelies Van Parys (composition) during the week of 6–10 July.

Together with the four expert coaches, they will work on developing their own concept and creation. Subsequently, in May 2027, all participants will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra for a special showcase of the compositions.

The participants at a glance:

  • Fleur Bonnevits

    Fleur Bonnevits is a Dutch singer-songwriter, composer and producer, working under the name Novits. She creates narrative, cinematic music at the intersection of pop, film and theatre, combining songwriting, orchestration and production.

  • Yijun Chen

    Composer Yijun Chen lives in Brussels, where she is currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire. With a background in jazz composition and film music, her work focuses on texture, atmosphere and narrative musical forms.

  • Aumi Derycke

    Aumi Derycke is studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, where she is completing her bachelor’s degree in composition under Annelies Van Parys. Alongside composition, she has developed a keen interest in electronic music, which is reflected in her studies in music and technology.

  • Helena Zyskowksa

    Helena Zyskowska is a Manchester-based composer, originally from Warsaw, Poland. Her work revolves around delicate, intricate soundscapes in which she explores vulnerability and instability. She is particularly drawn to the physical nature of sound.

  • Kobe Janssens

    Kobe Janssens is studying composition and music writing at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, and will begin conducting studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp under Steven Verhaert next year. He is also active as a conductor and assists with the Royal Fanfare De Sint-Jansvrienden Wiekevorst.

  • Ersan Januzi

    Ersan Januzi is a Kosovo-based composer and PhD candidate in composition at the Faculty of Music of the Sts. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in composition at the University of Pristina.

  • Siyeol Ju

    Siyeol Ju is a composer who lives and works in Korea and Germany. He studied composition at Seoul National University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Electronic Composition at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg. His work encompasses electronic music, installations, media art and contemporary dance, focusing on the relationship between sound, space and performance.

  • Edoardo Brandi

    Edoardo Brandi is a composer and violinist from Italy. In 2022, he began studying Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp under Wim Henderickx, Bram Van Camp and Steven Prengels. He is currently focusing on writing solo and chamber music works in various genres, primarily for traditional ensembles.

  • Massimiliano Vizzini

    Massimiliano Vizzini is an Italian composer and multimedia artist living in the Netherlands. His work encompasses opera, mixed media and electronic music. In recent years, he has developed various intermedia projects in which he explores the concept of digital counterpoint, with performers extending onto the screen or becoming physically intertwined with the film environment.

  • Yiding Wang

    Yiding Wang is studying for a Master’s degree in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels under the supervision of Peter Swinnen. Her artistic research focuses on exploring and applying contemporary musical language, combined with an in-depth exploration of the integration of traditional Chinese cultural philosophy and aesthetics into a contemporary musical context.
