Are you a passionate singer who dreams of an enchanting dive into the world of polyphony? Then the Summerschool 2024 is your ultimate chance to be part of a unique musical adventure!
This year, Laus Polyphoniae embraces the fascinating festival theme ‘VOXVOCES, unison polyphony’. For this year’s edition, we are diving deep into monophonic music, especially chants, and exploring how they shape the inspiration and structure of polyphonic creations. This theme offers a wealth of opportunities to explore this fantastic repertoire. You do not need experience singing from original notation, but reading skills and a background in choral singing are required.
During a week of intense singing sessions, led by internationally renowned experts such as Stratton Bull, Paul Kolb and Pieter De Moor of Cappella Pratensis, you will discover the depths of Gregorian chant and polyphony straight from facsimiles of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century manuscripts and printed editions. Guest teacher Valerie Horst will give additional sessions on the art of mensural notation.
An initiative by Musica Impulse Centre, Cappella Pratensis and AMUZ, Festival of Flanders – Antwerp.
